TriMark™ grain triticale varieties supplied by Resource Seeds, Inc. come from the leading breeders of triticale grain varieties in the United States and Europe, and are being rigorously tested for use in potential production regions throughout the U.S. The TriMark™ Grain program is a grain production and marketing program that links plant breeders, growers and grain users.

Historically an obstacle to the production and use of triticale grain has been the lack of coordination between supply and demand. The TriMark program is a well-coordinated, efficient system for conveying price signals and moving grain between growers and grain users. The program solves the “what comes first” problem involving production and markets by assuring growers of a worthwhile market and assuring grain users of a convenient, consistent supply of enough grain to justify changing feed rations.

TriMark™ Grain varieties provide:

  • Higher grain yield than wheat
  • Better fall and winter grazing where used for grazing and grain
  • Better drought tolerance and use of soil nutrients
  • Less vulnerability to insects and disease
  • Excellent feed grain for swine, poultry, and ruminants
  • Better amino acid profile than corn or wheat. Less need for soybean meal
  • Environmental benefits from better crop and animal use of nitrogen and phosphorous
Triticale is now grown on over 1 million acres in the U.S., but most of that is for forage. Triticale grain is a significant feed in Europe, and now new varieties are making triticale grain production an increasingly attractive option for growers in the U.S..

TriMark triticale varieties are a new generation of triticale genetics that provide higher grain yields, improved agronomics, and high feed quality. After more than thirty years and millions of dollars, plant breeders in Europe and the U.S. have succeeded in developing triticale varieties that are shorter, higher tillering, and easier to thresh. The seed is plumper and the bushel weight higher. And most importantly, yields are higher and more consistent, making these new varieties the highest yielding small grain cereals, higher than wheat or barley. These improvements in new varieties have been made while retaining the superior vigor, amino acid profile, nutrient efficiency, and tolerance to stress, disease, and insects that first led to excitement about triticale's potential.

TriMark™ triticale varieties are protected under the U.S. Plant Variety Protection Act. Unauthorized seed multiplication and sale are prohibited. Violators deprive plant breeders of revenue needed to support the development of new, improved varieties, and risk prosecution and substantial penalties.
